Sports Massage Team

Is there a sports-related event in your area that may be a good fit for the AMTA-WI Sports Massage Team? If yes, call or send an email to the volunteer coordinator of the event. Ask if they are interested in having licensed massage therapists on-site for their event registrants. If they are, contact us! Email event details and your contact information to Mary Schweiger at maryschweigerlmt@gmail.com or call 262-623-4900.

We will help you with further negotiations with the event organizers and in organizing a team to provide massage for the event. We then need to spread the word!

Please include “AMTA-WI Sports Massage Opportunity” in the email subject line. The event information will be shared with the Sports Massage Team, posted to www.amtawi.org, and included in AMTA-WI social media, member e-blasts, and if timing is right, our member newsletters.

Not sure what to say to the event/volunteer coordinator? We are happy to provide guidance and share ideas. Simply call Mary Schweiger at 262-623-4900.

Sports Massage Resources

Are you hesitant to volunteer for sports massage because you lack confidence in your sports massage skills? We are here to help! Thanks to your Board of Directors, AMTA-WI members now have access to copies of “Massage for Sport Performance” by Michael McGillicuddy. The text includes information about appropriate stretching, when and how to use Pre-event, Post-event, and Recovery massage techniques, and sport-specific treatments. A DVD accompanies the text and features a therapist/trainer demonstrating each of the techniques. Book loans are limited to 3-4 weeks. Loan extensions are available so long as there is no waiting list. Therapists will be responsible for shipping costs. Replacement for lost or damaged materials will apply.

The AMTA-WI Chapter is a non-profit, professional massage therapy association with nearly 2,000 members. Our Chapter’s motto is Promoting Wellness Through Massage. As a state chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association, which is approaching 60,000 members, we strive to make available to our members the highest quality continuing education providers and to keep them informed of relevant Wisconsin news. This we do through semi-annual meetings, regular newsletters, and our chapter website.
